So glad I decided to do it. After a life time of failed attempts to learn to swim because of poor experiences, I believed it was most unlikely that I would ever know the freedom of floating . I came across the Swimming Without Stress blogs and reached out to Cheryl and Ian who encouraged me to come and give it another go . They didn’t make any promises about what I may achieve and I certainly didn’t expect to come away with a yen to swim the channel . But something in our early conversations sparked my curiosity and desire to give it one last go . The setting is tranquil I was able to leave my fears and anxiety at the poolside . The intensive course was perfect, a morning and afternoon session for three days and a final morning session on the fourth day . Cheryl and Ian are hugely experienced in working with nervous non swimmers as well as more advanced swimmers . Working with me in the water was extremely helpful in building early trust and helped to calm my initial fears . Simple clear instruction and their teaching styles enabled me to go from never having taken my foot off the bottom to experience the joy of free floating . As I reflect on my 4 days in Wales I am still in awe of how they managed to get me there . I shall be eternally grateful that Cheryl and Ian have helped me to fulfil a lifetime goal that I had resigned myself to believing would never happen.
