What Can We Guarantee?

I received the following message today from someone considering coming on a course with us in June. I think it expresses the feelings of a number of people who enquire, including a few that we don’t hear from again after their initial contact. My response is below it.

“The total cost with accommodation in June is quite steep. If you could guarantee results, I would be happy to pay but I know that this is not possible.

So, I am still thinking about it as I do want to get rid of my fear of water and learn to swim.  I have tried and failed a few times however.”

Thanks for giving me the opportunity to give you some encouragement.

I can guarantee that our lessons will be different from previous lessons and you will leave with a different relationship with the water. We would aim to get you floating and moving independently, floating face down and trusting the water to support you being the foundation. When swimming emerges from this it will be enjoyable and meaningful rather than a kind of struggling against the water as an obstacle to overcome.

We can’t give you any guarantee of what you’ll be doing at the end of the course because everyone is different depending on their level of fear.

However, people usually say after the first day that they can’t believe they’re doing what they’re doing. ‘Why has nobody ever told me this?’ is something we frequently hear.

Previous failure is usually the failure of the teaching method not the pupil and that’s often very clear for us to see and easy to point out. So I can pretty well guarantee it will be worth you coming.

Regarding the cost, June is peak season. A small cottage at Clydey will cost around £60 more per night than in Winter.  I’d say it’s worth the extra couple of hundred pounds to be here at the nicest time of year. But the Winter cottage price, with more time with the pool to yourself and the joys of returning to your cosy cottage after lessons to warm up by the log burner, is a bargain.

Clydey is an excellent venue for our course. You get exclusive use of the pool for lessons and to practise. Here is some feedback. Most people who come to us have similar previous experiences to yours.  Feedback

I hope this helps.
